Handcrafted, Custom Made
--a very special kind of comfort.
Vispring mattresses are flip mattresses: the vanadium steel coils are pocketed in cotton calico and hand-nested into a honeycomb pattern in each layer, including the mattress base, its divan. Eliminating the gaps between coils maximizes support and comfort. The calico pocketed coils are sewn and stapled together, and then hand applied side stitching with natural fiber twine is used to bind the coil structure to Vispring's signature Belgium damask fabric encasement. The hand applied side stitching alone can take up to 8 hours to skillfully apply. Generous layers of the world's most luxurious natural fibers are hand teased, blended, and layered on top of both sides of the coil structure, and beautiful hand applied tufts are applied through the mattress and tied on each side. The tufts not only keep the fibers from shifting but also work to pull the comfort layers and coils from both sides toward the center of the mattress, eliminating false loft, so that you don't sink into the mattress but rather feel all of the amazing support and comfort atop the mattress.
For added softness, add an Opulence topper filled with wool blended with silk fiber. The topper not only comforts you as it gently fills in the area between the curves of your body and the mattress, but it also enhances the support that the mattress offers your body so that you enjoy decades of perfect alignment and support.
Last, be sure to add the divan. Vispring estimates that the divan accounts for 40% of of the comfort and longevity of your Vispring mattress. As the coils in the mattress synchronize to your body shape to support you, the coils in the divan also synchronize with the coils in the mattress, adding greater support benefit, and adding many more years of lasting comfort.
The Spring is the thing
At the heart of every Vispring mattress lies a carefully crafted single, double, or triple layer of Vanadium steel springs, expertly manufactured for unrivaled strength and flexibility. Nestled within natural cotton calico pockets, these springs contour to your body, providing constant support without undue pressure. By day, they return to their original shape, preserving your bed’s structure for years to come. What sets Vispring apart is its commitment to excellence; unlike most manufacturers who rely on wholesalers, Vispring produces every single spring in-house at the Plymouth factory. With nine different wire gauges and 74 distinct spring types, it’s not just about quantity; it’s the precise shape and gauge that define its signature comfort. This meticulous craftsmanship ensures a mattress that adapts perfectly to you and your partner, offering the ultimate in responsiveness, support, and lasting luxury.
The best thing for mattress making
Horse tail, the longest most robust fiber in the world, is the best thing for mattress making. It can last well over a century, wicks away heat and moisture, draws air into the mattress, and is so strong that it supports, elevates, and comforts you. Vispring's horse tail is sourced from Austria and South America, where only the finest quality strands are selected. Hand-teased to maintain their open structure, these fibers act like mini-springs, adding resilience, buoyancy, and breathability to your mattress.
Natural Comfort
From the gentle comfort of cashmere, silk, wool, and mohair, or vicuña to the buoyant support of horsehair, every element in a Vispring mattress is chosen for its natural comfort and enduring quality. The manufacturer's dedication to precious materials is reflected in the fact that every Vispring mattress has only natural fiber for its fills, nothing synthetic, no foam, no glue, no polyester, no latex––providing you with a sleep experience that comforts, nurtures, and regenerates you by night for a healthier, happier, more productive every day.
Shetaland Wool
Each Vispring mattress contains up to four full fleeces of wool. By securing a significant portion of the annual wool clip supporting small-scale, heritage farming economy in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Vispring helps sustain traditional crofting practices while safeguarding the provenance of this remarkable fiber.
